When can Max Verstappen be crowned champion?
With his victory at Spa-Francorchamps, Max Verstappen is getting closer and closer to the world champion title. How soon can he win his second crown?

Max Verstappen picks up right where he left off before the break, with a victory. And what a victory it is. Starting from 14th place, he launches an incredible comeback to come out on top ahead of his teammate Sergio Perez. It’s his second consecutive victory starting from 10th place or higher.
With Charles Leclerc’s underperformance relegating him to 3rd place in the general classification, the Dutch driver is increasing his lead over his competitors. He now has a 93-point advantage over his closest rival, who happens to be his teammate, and a 98-unit lead over the Monégasque driver.
Nothing seems to prevent the reigning world champion from repeating his feat this year. A back-to-back that would further solidify his place in the history of Formula 1.
A title in Japan?
Statistically speaking, the driver might not be able to be crowned during the next Grand Prix. After the Dutch Grand Prix, there will be 190 points left to be awarded in the remaining 7 Grand Prix, including one with a sprint race.
With a win in the Netherlands and non-points-scoring finishes for Leclerc and Perez, Verstappen would have a 119-point lead over the 2nd place and 125-point lead over the 3rd place.
It would take a real catastrophe for Verstappen not to be able to win the championship. For example, if one of the two contenders wins all the Grand Prix races, Max Verstappen must not lose more than an average of 11 points per race to become the champion.
If everything goes well for the Red Bull driver, he could become world champion as early as the Singapore or Japan Grand Prix, around 4-5 races before the end. An impressive performance by the Dutch driver.
