De Vries behind the wheel of an Aston Martin at Monza
Nyck de Vries will be driving in free practice 1 at Monza. He will be behind the wheel of Vettel's Aston Martin. This is the third session with three different teams for him in 2022.

After Barcelona driving a Williams and Paul-Ricard driving a Mercedes, Nyck de Vries will now drive for Aston Martin. He will take part in Free Practice 1 behind the wheel of the Aston Martin AMR22, Vettel’s Formula 1 car.
This session is not insignificant for him. Under contract with Mercedes, the Formula E champion will be driving for a third team that has an engine from Mercedes. Everything is being done for him to get acclimated to Formula 1. A good sign for him?
The driver is satisfied and eager to be behind the wheel of the Aston Martin on this legendary track.
I’m really excited to drive for Aston Martin F1, especially on such a legendary circuit like Monza. It will be my third FP1 session of the season, and with a third different chassis. These opportunities have given me a fantastic insight into how Formula 1 cars and teams work. I hope to bring a fresh perspective to Aston Martin and complete a test program that will be beneficial for everyone.
De Vries makes people happy.
Aston Martin’s director, Mike Crack, did not hesitate to praise the driver during the three free practice sessions.
(e) We are delighted to welcome Nyck to our team and we are excited to work with him in Monza. I have been observing Nyck’s career with great interest, he has brilliantly driven to secure the F2 championship in 2019 and confirmed his talent by winning the Formula E World Championship in 2020-2021. We are eager to have his perspective and technical feedback on our car. His results clearly demonstrate that he deserves a place in Formula 1, and I hope the opportunity to drive the AMR22 will allow him to further showcase his abilities.
Aston Martin will have to find a second rookie to run in free practice sessions before the end of the season. Nyck de Vries, on the other hand, will be able to show what he is capable of and perhaps try to get into the plans of a team for the 2023 season.
