Haas started the weekend quite poorly in Friday’s free practice sessions. The drivers did not convince and finished in the last positions twice.

The ordeal continues for the team with a penalty received by both drivers. Schumacher receives a 10-place penalty, adding to the 5-place penalty he already received on Friday. Adding to that, Magnussen receives a new penalty of 15 places, which sends the driver to the back of the grid.

The two teammates were sanctioned due to a gearbox change that occurred this Saturday. The quota of three gearboxes to be used during the year has been exceeded, as stipulated by the regulations.

« The chassis and gearbox used by Mick Schumacher is the sixth out of the four new chassis and gearboxes allowed for the 2022 Championship season, and this is not in compliance with article 29.2 c) of the 2022 Formula 1 Sporting Regulations.

Very bad news for Haas who will start from the back of the grid and will have to make a great comeback to score points. The team, which has been struggling in recent weeks, will have a hard time bringing back some points from Monza.

These new penalties add to the 8 other drivers who were already penalized. A good number that is likely to spice up this Grand Prix.
