Alpine out of the points for the 2nd time this season
During the Italian Grand Prix, Alpine failed to score any points in Monza. A first since spring and only the second time this season. A disappointing performance that the team wants to quickly erase during the next Grand Prix in Singapore.

It was a disappointing weekend for Alpine. The French team failed to score any points for this third Grand Prix in three weekends. A minor setback that did not have a major impact on the constructors’ standings, as their competitor McLaren only took 6 points from them.
The weekend had started well for the team with convincing free practice sessions. Free practice sessions that were overshadowed by qualifying sessions below what the drivers are used to doing.
The two drivers end up in 10th and 11th place in the qualifications. Ocon didn’t manage to make it to Q3, and Alonso didn’t have a time in Q3 due to a mistake that resulted in his time being cancelled.
The French driver had received a 5-place penalty due to engine component changes. He therefore started in 14th position, while the Spanish driver started from 6th place.
The two drivers got off to a rather good start. But for Ocon, as the race went on, he encountered too much traffic and it was impossible for him to continue overtaking and gaining positions.
Alonso, on the other hand, continued his race in the top 10 until the 31st lap. The driver experienced a water pressure problem with his car, which prevented him from continuing the race. Therefore, he returned to the pit and his race was over.
The race was also marked by the intervention of the Safety Car for 5 laps, bringing the circuit to an end. The French driver was therefore stuck in 11th position without being able to do anything.
Esteban put himself in an advantageous position during his second relay, turning one second faster than those ahead of him, and was about to be able to fight for points before the end-of-race Safety Car.
The team keeps their head held high with a 4th place still to their liking and earning 26 points in the last 3 Grand Prix. They can now focus on the next Grand Prix, which will take place in 3 weeks. The manufacturer will also take a well-deserved break and make improvements to the A522.
We will come back stronger in Singapore at the end of the month, where we will have other developments to bring to the car.
Alpine will have to hang on during the last 6 Grand Prix races in order to finish in 4th place and consider the season a success.
