Alonso considers that 2022 is part of his two best seasons in F1
At 41 years old, Fernando Alonso is still as high-performing as he was during his prime years. Better yet, he himself believes that his 2022 season is the most accomplished of his career, alongside his narrowly missed title in 2012.

This season, Fernando Alonso once again proves that he hasn’t lost any of his driving skills despite being 41 years old. After a satisfying comeback to the premier category last year, the Spanish driver seems even stronger in this 2022 season.
The Asturian Bull, before its withdrawal during the Italian Grand Prix, had actually completed ten consecutive races in the points, between Spain and the Netherlands. This impressive streak followed a less glorious one at the beginning of the season, where it was often struck by bad luck, resulting in a mere two points in five races.
« As I said at the beginning of the year, I believe we lost 40 to 50 points at the start of the season due to reliability issues,” says the main person involved. « And with those points, the situation in the championship would be quite different, also in the battle with McLaren in the constructors’ standings. »
The current ninth in the drivers’ standings certainly seems very satisfied with his performances. He ranks 2022 as one of the two best years of his entire career, surpassing even those of his two world titles in 2005 and 2006.
« I am happy and proud of my performances, and I think that with 2012, these are probably my two best seasons, even above those of my titles with a dominant car in those years. So 2012, 2022, the next one will be 2032! »
The British team is at least assured of getting a driver who is just as impressive since his return in 2021, as he will be replacing Sebastian Vettel next year at Aston Martin.
