Singapore Grand Prix – Sergio Perez: « It was my best performance »
Having taken the lead of the race in the first lap, Sergio Perez led all the laps to secure his second victory of 2022.
Author of a beautiful qualifying session on Saturday, Sergio Perez, starting second on the grid, made a superb start. The Mexican managed to get alongside and overtake Charles Leclerc even before the first corner. Now leading the race, the Red Bull driver displayed a pace high enough to prevent any kind of pressure from Charles Leclerc. Even when the track dried enough to allow the activation of DRS, Perez was able to pull away from the Monegasque and secure his second victory in 2022. This is the first time in his career that Sergio Perez has led every lap of a Grand Prix.

Sergio Perez’s victory could, however, slip away from him. Indeed, the Red Bull driver is under investigation by the stewards for creating too much distance between himself and the safety car.
« I was just informed that I am under investigation by the commissioners, but I was not told to be careful about my gap with the safety car. »
Sergio Perez thus secures the fourth victory of his career and his second in 2022. He is now only two points away from Charles Leclerc’s second position in the driver’s championship.
