Pierre Gasly disappointed after a strategy error by AlphaTauri in Singapore
Pierre Gasly takes a hit after finishing 10th in Singapore, blaming it on a strategic mistake from AlphaTauri.

Starting 7th on the grid for the Grand Prix and ultimately finishing 10th in the race, Pierre Gasly is particularly frustrated with his team’s result in Singapore. The Frenchman blames an early pit stop that cost him several positions.
“I am very disappointed today, it’s not the result we should have had. We were having an excellent race, behind Lando (Norris) and ahead of the two Aston Martins, but we took a massive risk by pitting early and lost a few positions. I really don’t understand why we made that decision, so we will have to review everything and learn from this mistake,” says Pierre Gasly. “We certainly left a lot of points on the table today, so it stings a bit, especially in our championship fight, as there was a great opportunity today to move forward and we didn’t seize it,” he added, as AlphaTauri was overtaken by Aston Martin in the constructors’ standings.
The technical director of the team, Jody Egginton, takes responsibility for the team’s poor result. After all the work put in by the team and the drivers throughout the weekend, we failed to maximize the opportunity to score good points with both cars. This is due to the fact that our technical team committed too early to switching to dry tires. This cost both drivers track position, with Yuki (Tsunoda) unfortunately slipping off the track shortly after. As a team, we will now review the race in detail in order to understand the areas for improvement and take into account the necessary learning to better exploit such opportunities next time.
