Red Bull and Honda strengthen their collaboration… with the return of a logo

If Honda officially left Formula 1 as an engine supplier last year, the company remains highly involved with Red Bull. This connection is now solidified through a logo and a new role for Sergio Pérez.

Red Bull and Honda, it’s a bit of an old couple who drift apart, make up, without ever really divorcing. While the engine supplier had announced their departure from F1 at the end of last season, with Red Bull theoretically producing their own engines through Red Bull Powertrains (RBPT), we know that the reality is quite different. Honda will still assist Red Bull – and AlphaTauri, let’s not forget – in manufacturing power units through their entity, Honda Racing Corporation. This partnership will still be in effect next year and until the end of 2025, as officially announced in August.

If the collaboration between the two teams is already visible through an “HRC” logo on the cars, the “Honda” logo will make its comeback on the RB18 and AT03 from the Japanese Grand Prix this weekend. Red Bull announced it this morning as part of the “strengthening of the partnership” between the team and Honda.

An ambassador role for Sergio Pérez.

Other agreements will also be implemented: Sergio Pérez will now assume the role of ambassador for the Honda Racing School (HRS) driving academy, particularly through a series of lectures for HRS students in November.

In addition, Red Bull and AlphaTauri drivers – Max Verstappen, Sergio Pérez, Pierre Gasly, and Yuki Tsunoda – will take part in the “HRC THANKS DAY” which will take place on Sunday, November 27th.

« Oracle Red Bull Racing and Honda Racing Corporation have achieved great success together in Formula 1. With these new agreements, we are proud to continue progressing with the technical support of HRC until the introduction of the next generation of engines in 2026 », declares Helmut Marko, motorsport advisor at Red Bull. « We are convinced that this relationship with HRC will allow us to achieve even more success in the future and we thank them for their continued support. »

The boss of Red Bull, Christian Horner, also thanks Honda for their contribution to his team’s victories. Honda has invested a lot in hybrid technology during our partnership. This has allowed us to provide competitive power units to both teams, for which we are very grateful. Our common goal is to continue delivering dominant engines and achieve as much success as possible over the next three years. To mark this, we are excited to welcome the Honda logo back on the car starting from Suzuka.
