DRS: Everything you need to know for the Mexican Grand Prix
Every Grand Prix weekend is one of the most anticipated announcements as it highlights potential overtaking zones. The long straights of the Mexican circuit will also accentuate the effect of DRS, and the drivers who are entitled to it will be able to launch lightning-fast attacks on the drivers ahead of them.
The Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez hosts the penultimate round of the 2022 Formula 1 season and is often the stage for impressive overtakes with the DRS. For this 2022 edition of the Mexican Grand Prix, there will be three DRS activation zones, which are the same as those in the 2021 edition. We have two DRS activation zones.
The first DRS activation zone is located at the beginning of the second sector, between turns 11 and 12. It will allow the pursuing driver to get closer to their opponent in order to launch a real attack in the second activation zone, located on the main straight.
More than a kilometer long, the straight starting line will give a significant advantage when using the DRS, with drivers reaching speeds exceeding 350 km/h at the end of it.
The third DRS activation zone is located between turns 3 and 4, it is much shorter than the other two but still needs to be monitored as it leads into a crucial braking zone.
The single-seaters suffering from a lack of top speed will surely come out on top with these long overtaking zones.
