500,000 spectators as early as next year for the USA Grand Prix?
Formula 1 is expanding rapidly and attracting more and more fans around the world, especially in the United States. During the 2023 season, Formula 1 will have three Grand Prix races on American soil. The demand is constantly increasing and we could expect to see nearly 500,000 people at the United States Grand Prix next year.
Back on the calendar since 2012, the United States Grand Prix welcomed 440,000 people during its last edition. A confirmation of the sport’s skyrocketing success in the land of Uncle Sam. New stands were built and a shuttle bus system was implemented to accommodate more spectators than in 2021.
Bobby Epstein, promoter of the United States Grand Prix, is raising the bar even higher for the 2023 edition and aims to host 500,000 spectators at the COTA track.
He stated on Autosport’s microphone that there was a demand to reach 500,000 people but he wants the fans’ experience on the circuit to be as good as possible.
Many concerts were held during the Formula 1 visit to COTA, and Ed Sheeran was among the many artists on stage.
If the increase in the number of seats is significant, Bobby Epstein primarily wants a smooth running of the event.
“I don’t think it necessarily has to reach 500,000, but to grow cautiously to ensure that we can still manage the crowd,” Epstein said. (Autosport)
Jost Capito’s announcement regarding the potential signing of Logan Sargeant in Formula 1 in 2023 alongside Alexander Albon would contribute to the event’s development. The arrival of an American driver in Formula 1 next season would be great news for the appeal of the sport on the other side of the Atlantic.
“It’s much more valuable now than it used to be. If you had asked me this even three or four years ago, I would have said it would be nice to have, but now it will be great, great for him,” he declared to Autosport.
The following objective is clear: to place an American driver in a top team and make America win on the biggest circuits worldwide.
