The audience following Formula 1 increases every year. Some of these members display disrespectful behavior on and off the tracks. This time, Spanish fans of Fernando Alonso targeted Silvia Bellot, a Spanish race commissioner, following the penalty imposed on Alonso during the United States Grand Prix. These fans harassed her on social media and accused her of being part of a conspiracy against the two-time Spanish world champion.

Indignant by these unacceptable behaviors, the Alpine driver expressed himself on his Instagram account. « I strongly condemn the recent online abuses directed at FIA race commissioner Silvia Bellot. »

« This type of hateful behavior is unacceptable in sports and society. It is especially deplorable that these remarks target one of the volunteers and officials of our sport,” explained the two-time world champion.

Alpine also expressed its views on the hate that was directed towards the Spanish race commissioner present in Austin.

There is no place for any form of harassment or abuse in our sport, and we condemn this behavior.
