The design flaws of the W13 seem to have been corrected after the excellent performances of the Silver Arrows in the Brazilian Grand Prix sprint race. During this race, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell displayed an impressive race pace. The seven-time British world champion made a superb comeback through the field to finish in 3rd position after starting from 8th on the grid. His teammate emerged victorious by overtaking Max Verstappen’s struggling Red Bull towards the end of the sprint race.

The two Mercedes drivers will start from the front row this Sunday, a first this season. This return to the forefront of the German cars is not insignificant as Mercedes is in a battle with Ferrari for the second place in the world constructors’ championship. The Silver Arrows have a significant advantage for the race this Sunday as the Ferraris will start from the 5th and 7th positions on the starting grid.

« I don’t quite understand… It’s as if we have definitively taken a step forward but it’s almost as if the other two teams have taken a step back. I don’t know if it’s fair or not, but that’s how I feel. »

This good momentum gives hope to Lewis Hamilton, the British driver seems to be in a good position to secure his first victory of the season at the Brazilian Grand Prix. However, he is looking beyond the end of this 2022 season and believes that Mercedes will be able to close the gap on Ferrari and Red Bull during the winter break.

(I) I think we definitely know where we are going and what we need to do to position ourselves for next year’s fight. So we will be very focused. Everyone I know is already ready to get to work this winter and make efforts.
