Carlos Sainz: « Mercedes were untouchable today »
The Spaniard finished at the bottom of the podium after catching up on his five-position engine change penalty.

Carlos Sainz finished in third position in Brazil, behind the impressive Mercedes double. The Spaniard was able to make up for lost ground, starting in 7th position after a 5-place penalty for an engine change.
« Overall, it was a good race, although we had some issues with the brakes catching fire at the start. This meant we had to make three pit stops, which wasn’t the fastest strategy. But I was able to push hard and catch up with Checo [Perez] in the end. It’s a good podium finish after starting P7, we can be happy with that. It’s a shame that the Mercedes were so fast, but congratulations to George [Russell], the Spanish driver commented in a post-race interview.
Regarding the battle for second place in the constructors’ standings, the Spanish driver explains that Ferrari is in defensive mode and the Mercedes were untouchable today, much faster than the Red Bulls and us. There’s only one weekend left, so we hope to win in Abu Dhabi, minimize the damage, and fight for victory.
