Pierre Gasly receives a 5-second penalty in Brazil for speeding in the pit lane
The AlphaTauri driver exceeded the maximum speed limit of 1.8 km/h in the pit lane during the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Pierre Gasly and the FIA definitely do not have a great love story. The Frenchman has once again been penalized, this time in the form of 5 seconds added to his final time established at the Brazilian Grand Prix. The cause: a speed too high in the pit lane, where the AlphaTauri driver was caught at 81.8 km/h, which is 1.8 km/h above the authorized limit of 80 km/h.
Fortunately for him, this punishment has no impact on his ranking, as he finished the race 6.117 seconds behind his pursuer, Alexander Albon. Pierre Gasly therefore retains his 14th position… Outside of the points, anyway.
Let’s remember that on Saturday, after the sprint race, the French driver was summoned by the commissioners for driving too slowly during the warm-up laps before the start. He ultimately got away with it, as the commissioners only gave him a warning.
It must be said that Pierre Gasly can no longer afford to make mistakes, as he is just two points away from being suspended from a Grand Prix. He has currently accumulated 10 penalty points on his license. If he reaches 12 points by May 21, 2023, the driver who will be piloting for Alpine next year will therefore be a mere spectator during a race.
