The Brazilian Grand Prix delivered us a magnificent show throughout the race weekend. It all started with Magnussen’s pole position on Friday, George Russell’s victory in the sprint race, and his triumph in the Grand Prix. The young British driver managed to come out on top by focusing on his driving and not succumbing to the pressure from Verstappen and Hamilton. Mercedes is delighted with this weekend, which was completely under the control of the 24-year-old British driver. The team’s chief strategist, James Vowles, declares, “He did a brilliant job throughout the weekend.”

The race management of the British driver was worthy of an experienced pilot. George Russell did not aggressively attack in order to preserve his tires and remained calm when Lewis Hamilton was very close to him at the end of the race. This composed, calm, and thoughtful mindset of the English driver is a good thing for his progression according to James Vowles.

…he was there when he needed to be. He was on point. Lewis was behind him with the same tires and in the same conditions, and both had the right to race. It gives confidence as a driver, and you can see that with George,” he declared on Sky Sports’ microphone.

George Russell is able to handle the pressure of a big result, a quality that Vowles had already noticed in the British driver in the past.

Since I’ve known him, it’s been like that. He is incredibly analytical and knows what he needs to do to get results.

As the last Grand Prix of the 2022 season approaches, Mercedes and George Russell are two forces to watch closely. The progress made by Mercedes since the second half of the season has finally led them to victory. A strong sign as the 2023 season approaches, which promises to be exciting with a possible battle for the title between the three leading teams: Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes.
