Audi invests in Formula 1 project with plant expansion
The brand with the rings is due to enter Formula 1 in 2026, and is beginning to recruit staff and expand its premises to accommodate its new activities. It will also be able to count on the expertise of the Swiss Sauber team, with which it will collaborate.
Audi and motorsport have a long history of love. The German brand has made a name for itself in endurance racing, rallying, and numerous other disciplines, but it has never ventured into Formula 1.

In order to quickly become competitive in Formula 1, Audi has decided to hire nearly 300 people and will carry out significant work. Thus, the Competence Motorsport Center in Nürburg will be expanded to accommodate more staff and new test benches. The company wants to start working on the new regulations that will come into effect in 2022 under the best possible conditions.
The expansion will create the necessary infrastructure for the long-term development of our F1 power unit. With the extension of the building and the installation of state-of-the-art test benches, we are providing our development team with the best possible conditions to succeed in the top class of motorsport. A new building of 3000 square meters will also be built in this real estate complex. It will be connected to the existing premises through a bridge. It will include a mechanical workshop, technical facilities, and workstations for approximately 60 employees according to Olivier Hoffmann.
