While Audi is not supposed to arrive in Formula 1 until 2026, F1 2022 players can already have fun with a single-seater bearing the four-ring brand’s emblem. Indeed, the concept livery that Audi presented at this year’s Belgian Grand Prix has been added to the game. To unlock it, you must purchase the VIP level of the Podium Pass. It should be clarified that this livery does not represent the addition of an 11th team on the grid, but is a player livery. Players will thus be able to have fun in the “My Team” mode by adding Audi to the grid with the authentic logos and colors of the German brand, or even use it online.

The Audi livery is not the only livery that has been added with this new update. The livery that McLaren used during the Asian tour for the Singapore and Japan Grand Prix is back. This could be a sign that from now on, all special liveries could be offered to the player as personal liveries instead of being removed from the official cars and therefore from the game. Special Christmas liveries have also been added.

A new game mode

Very popular game mode in racing games, the elimination mode is making its grand debut in F1 22. The principle is simple: at the end of the allotted time, the driver in last position is eliminated, leaving only the driver in first position at the end of the race. It’s a relatively fun game mode, but unfortunately, it only amplifies the toxicity and dirty tricks among drivers in public lobbies. This elimination mode is exclusively available as part of Season 4 of the Podium Pass, but it wouldn’t be impossible for it to be kept for future seasons of the Podium Pass or even for upcoming F1 games if it meets with certain success.

This new highly arcade game mode illustrates the growing popularity of the sport. Now, it’s not just Formula 1 fans playing these games, but also new enthusiasts who see F1 not as a simulation but as just another racing game. This phenomenon was already noticeable with the introduction of Super cars in the launch of F1 22.
