Vettel beats Hamilton to best overtake of the year
The four-time German world champion enjoyed some fine racing in 2022 with Aston Martin. One of his overtakes at the US Grand Prix enabled him to beat Hamilton for the best overtake of the season.
Formula 1 recently invited its fans to vote on social media for the overtake of the year. After winning the semi-final against Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton was defeated by Vettel for the victory.
A complex overtaking
Sebastian Vettel has executed sublime overtakes throughout his Formula 1 career. He has once again demonstrated that he has not lost any of his skill behind the wheel, fighting against the Alpines and McLarens towards the end of the season. However, it was not one of those overtakes at the top of the race that allowed him to claim this reward.
Indeed, Sebastian Vettel had a superb race at the United States Grand Prix, finishing 9th. He executed an impressive overtaking move on Kevin Magnussen in the final sector. The Aston Martin driver passed his opponent on the outside in the sequence of fast corners preceding the pit entry. A high-speed maneuver that demonstrates the racing intelligence and experience of the four-time German world champion. Lewis Hamilton finished second with his overtakes on Sergio Perez and Charles at Silverstone.
