The Hungaroring circuit still has a lot of work to do if it is to appeal to F1
The Hungarian Grand Prix is one of the pillars of the Formula 1 world championship, and has been present since 1986. However, the arrival of more modern circuits on the calendar will force it to evolve if it is not to disappear.

The Formula 1 World Championship calendar has undergone significant upheaval for many years. New circuits are gradually replacing old historic tracks because they have better infrastructures that align with the demands of the discipline, but more importantly, they allow for reaching a new audience. In order to maintain its place on the calendar, the facilities at Hungaroring will be renovated.
2 new buildings
The promoter of the Hungarian Grand Prix acknowledges that the infrastructure needs to be modernized, as there have been no major changes since 2016. Two buildings will be constructed. A dedicated space for circuit customers and a café will be built, and these two new buildings will be connected by a bridge. The drinking water network, as well as other essential elements for the operation of the circuit, will be modernized.
« We also did not rest on our laurels during the past period: our track underwent numerous renovations, and we worked constantly to meet new safety requirements, he admits.
We have built a debris fence, we have maintained the stands, and in 2016, we completely resurfaced the circuit’s asphalt, specifically the top layer,” said Zsolt Gyulay, CEO of Hungaroring Sport Zrt, in a press release.
A strategic development program will bring major changes to the facilities near the track in order to continue attracting Formula 1 and to be able to meet these ever-increasing requirements.
Thanks to the development program, we will be able to compete with them within reasonable deadlines, which will allow us to keep Formula 1 here and thus attract attention to our country and our beautiful capital year after year.
The Hungarian Grand Prix 2023 already sold out
However, despite the lack of facilities, Hungarian F1 fans and fans from neighboring countries continue to be interested in the Hungarian Grand Prix. The circuit will indeed be sold out as all the tickets have already been sold.
There is a growing demand for traditional circuits like the Hungarian Grand Prix, and the proximity to Budapest will always be an additional source of interest for the Hungaroring.
100,000 people will come to watch the race on Sunday. The circuit is already fully booked despite the creation of a new grandstand.
