Horner pays tribute to Red Bull and Mateschitz at FIA gala
Red Bull experienced a tragic event this season, as its founder passed away. Christian Horner paid tribute to him at the FIA awards ceremony in Bologna.
Red Bull made its entry into Formula 1 in 2006 under the leadership of its CEO, Dietrich Mateschitz. This Austrian businessman enabled talented young drivers to compete at the top of Formula 1 (Vettel, Verstappen…). He left us shortly before the United States Grand Prix. His team would secure the 5th constructor’s title in its history.
A specific title
This constructor’s title has a special significance as it was won the day after the death of Dietrich Mateschitz, the founder of Red Bull. Christian Horner wanted to pay tribute to this man who changed many things in motorsport and Formula 1. He spoke a few words in his honor during the FIA awards ceremony and dedicates this constructor’s title to the founder of the Austrian team.
« I would like to say tonight that I have watched many videos and that among all these different championships, we have seen so many Red Bull logos. I would like to dedicate this trophy to a very special man, who has done so much for motorsports and Formula 1. » he explained, moved in front of Mohammed Ben Sulayem and Stefano Domenicali.
He was a fan of motorsports in particular, and he gave so many young drivers and hundreds of mechanics a chance, and he did so much for this industry. He did more than anyone else. So I would like to dedicate this trophy to Dietrich Mateschitz.
