Dakar 2023 – Stage 10: Loeb continues and gets closer to second place
New victory for Sébastien Loeb on this Dakar. Author of the best time in this tenth stage, the nine-time world rally champion takes advantage to move back up to second place overall.

If we were on the Tour de France, this stage would be considered a transitional stage. Heading south for the Dakar caravan that is preparing to face the biggest challenge of this edition in the next two days. Tomorrow and Friday, the competitors will tackle the Empty Quarter, a vast desert where the main inhabitants are dunes and sand. To add to the difficulty, these two days will be part of a marathon stage, without any assistance.
Before this main dish, Al-Attiyah, Loeb, and their teammates had to cover a long liaison today, in addition to a short special stage of 114 kilometers. Sébastien Loeb emerged as the winner for the fourth time in this rally. The BRX driver continues his streak as this marks his third consecutive stage victory, and his twentieth overall on the Dakar. The Frenchman surpassed Matthias Ekström, who has been strong in his Audi since the rest day.
On his side, and as he has been doing for several days now, Nasser Al-Attiyah played it safe. Being cautious but consistently among the leaders on the stages, the Qatari let almost six minutes slip away to Loeb, and a handful of seconds to his closest rival in the overall classification, Brazilian Lucas Moraes. The defending champion still maintains a comfortable lead over his pursuers as he approaches the final stretch of the Dakar 2023.
