Dakar 2023 – Stage 13: Once again victorious, Loeb breaks a 24-year-old record
With this sixth consecutive stage victory on the Dakar, Sébastien Loeb breaks the record held by Ari Vatanen since 1989.

The stages have been following each other and resembling each other for a week now on the Dakar. Winner of his sixth consecutive stage, his seventh since the beginning of the race, Sébastien Loeb has solidified his second place in the overall standings. This success also allows him to break the record for the number of consecutive victories held by Ari Vatanen since 1989. The record was set at the time on the legendary Peugeot 405 T16 Grand Raid.
For the final victory, there are only 414 kilometers left, including 136 kilometers of special stages, for Nasser Al-Attiyah to etch his name in the history of the Dakar Rally for the fifth time. The Qatari would then only have Stéphane Peterhansel ahead of him in the Dakar Autos record, who has won it eight times.
In this penultimate stage, Matthias Ekström once again proved to be brilliant. The Audi driver demonstrates that he has become an accomplished rally-raid driver, and that his Audi, as expected before the start of the race, is a gem when it comes to tackling the dunes.
Final stage tomorrow to close the 45th edition of the largest rally-raid in the world. Unless there is a catastrophe or a huge turnaround, tonight’s positions should be the same as the ones we will present in our summary tomorrow.
