Former Formula 1 driver Jean Alesi acquitted of aggravated vandalism charges
After acknowledging the facts and in the absence of intentional elements, Jean Alesi, as well as his son, were both acquitted yesterday in the case of the firecracker incident dating back to December 19th, 2021.

Jean Alesi is likely to be relieved by the verdict rendered yesterday after, over a year ago, he “set off a big firework on the window of his ex-brother-in-law’s architect’s office” in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon.
That day, I was driving back from Italy. In Ventimiglia, I bought a pack of firecrackers. It is customary in the country to use them during celebrations. Stupidly, I wanted to implement this tradition to celebrate the reunion with my son in the evening. A son I hadn’t seen in a year.
Acquittal also for his son Guiliano
The prosecutor Kocher also rendered a similar verdict for the 23-year-old young driver, Guiliano Alesi, who was being tried for complicity, but nothing has shown that he had knowledge of his father’s intention that evening.
(I) I told my son, “come on, let’s take a ride in the city”. But since I had been drinking, he preferred to drive. If I had told him, “come on, let’s set off some fireworks”, he would have never wanted to go out, Jean Alesi emphasized.
He was particularly concerned about the judgment towards his son, as his actions could have spelled the end of the young professional pilot’s career if he was convicted.
