An agreement has been signed by F1 to allow the integration of small cameras into the helmet of each driver. Introduced for the first time in Formula 1 with Fernando Alonso at the Belgian Grand Prix 2021, the Helmet Cam or Driver’s Eye has been introduced with the aim of diversifying the broadcast and allowing spectators to get as close as possible to the drivers.

After being experimented with over the past few years, this immersive camera technology is on the verge of becoming a standard. Racing Force Group has announced that it has signed an agreement with the FOM for its Driver’s Eye camera to be used this season for the entire grid.

As a reminder, this device, which weighs only 1.43 grams and has a diameter of 8 mm, is installed inside the inner padding of the pilot’s helmet. Since its introduction, this technology was only possible on Bell helmets, owned by Racing Force. The new agreement with the company means that all drivers will now be able to install the Helmet Cam without changing manufacturers.
