The seven-time world champion could break the record for the most number of driver world titles if he secures an eighth victory in 2023. However, after a season with no wins, a first in his career, Lewis Hamilton is worried that he may never win the title again.

« There are days where I don’t feel like I’m good enough,” he confides. « People say, ‘Yes, but you’ve won seven world titles,’ but there are still days where I wonder, ‘Do you still have it, can you still be the best?’ I often have this conversation with myself.”

He also discusses the mental aspect of high-level racing and this enormous psychological and emotional roller coaster that one must know how to manage. He particularly mentions his relationship with defeat.

According to Hamilton, success is short-lived. There is much less to learn in success. It’s like the tip of the iceberg. It is the losses, the failures, and the perseverance that you need, he claims.

Mercedes is working tirelessly to provide Hamilton with a car capable of winning the title in 2023. As a reminder, the British driver finished sixth in the standings in 2022, behind the Red Bull and Ferrari drivers, but also behind his teammate George Russell, who finished fourth. The battle promises to be exciting in 2023.
