Sergio Pérez wants to improve in 2023
If Sergio Perez narrowly missed out on second place in the championship in 2022, his season remains nevertheless very positive. This year, he maintains the same ambition, to fight for the title.

Sergio Pérez spoke on the sidelines of the Red Bull presentation. He hopes to eliminate the flaws of 2022 and be more complete. However, his garage neighbor is none other than Max Verstappen, the reigning world champion. So, both drivers have the same goal, which promises a beautiful rivalry.
In 2022, Pérez had one of the best seasons of his career with two victories. This year he will still be looking to improve. « I have to beat everyone to achieve this. It’s a matter of consistency, of managing the bad moments. It’s about being at your best level every weekend,” says the Mexican who wants to gain more consistency. He also mentions management errors that had set him back in the previous season and affirms that he has worked with his team to correct them. « We have learned from the mistakes we made, particularly when it came to making adjustments. We have learned what we were doing wrong with the car, and now we’re heading in the right direction. »
The driver, who is about to celebrate his 13th year in F1, expects a particularly challenging season. We saw Mercedes at the end of last year and they will be very strong. Ferrari will also push, the competition will be high-level, and I also expect some mid-field teams to gain momentum. This year will be very competitive.
Another rival could throw a spanner in the works for Sergio Pérez, and it’s not hard to look far as it is none other than Daniel Ricciardo, the third driver at Red Bull. The Australian, who was a regular driver at McLaren last year, has already won eight Grand Prix races and is ready to take the wheel at any moment. He is even aiming for a full-time return in 2024. Pérez must therefore be cautious if he wants to avoid being replaced.
