Ferrari reveals the name of its new single-seater 2023
Just a few days before the reveal, Ferrari unveiled the name of their new Italian race car on their social networks.
After starting its engine, we now know the name of the future car for Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc for this new season, it will be the SF-23.
Since 2015, and the SF15-T, the Italian firm has been using the designation « SF », which obviously stands for Scuderia Ferrari and 23 for the year.
This is the eighth car to bear this name and the fourth time it refers to the current year.
With the exception of last year’s F1-75, chosen in reference to the first car to come out of the Maranello factories in 1947, the 125 S, it has been 75 years.
In 2017 and 2018, the SF70 and SF71H cars celebrated the anniversary of the automobile brand, while the SF-90 of 2019 marked the birth of the Scuderia. Finally, the SF1000, which competed in the 2020 F1 World Championship, celebrated Ferrari’s 1000th appearance in Grand Prix races since 1950.
