The director of Alfa Romeo admits to having been inspired by Red Bull

The Italian team had a good start to the 2022 season with a solid position in the midfield, but a lack of progress led to their downfall. Alfa Romeo has been the team that scored the fewest points in the last 13 races.

This year, the technical director, Jan Monchaux, explained that the new car has undergone significant development, admitting that they drew inspiration from existing ideas, especially those of the reigning world champion team, Red Bull. « It is about acknowledging that a particular team has done a better job than all the others, understanding why they have performed better in certain areas, and adapting that to our car so that it is also capable of achieving top positions. That’s where the biggest differences lie,” he declares to the Spanish newspaper Diario Sport.

However, the team director emphasizes the intensive work of his team to produce such a car. « We have therefore had to make considerable efforts in the rear to accommodate a new cooling configuration and therefore a new bodywork, which for us is a step forward. »
