Despite the end of its contract with Sauber, Alfa Romeo intends to remain in motorsport
Although the contract between Sauber and Alfa Romeo will come to an end at the end of this season, the chief of the Italian brand, Jean-Philippe Imparato, does not rule out the possibility of Quadrifoglio staying in motorsport.

Alfa Romeo is a legendary brand in motorsport, particularly in Formula 1. In 1950 and 1951, it was Alfa Romeo that led Giuseppe Farina and Juan-Manuel Fangio to the titles in the first two championships in the history of the premier category.
In 2018, under the leadership of former CEO of FIAT, Sergio Marchionne, Alfa Romeo made a return to Formula 1 by partnering with the Sauber team. It was notably the Biscione brand that introduced Charles Leclerc before he joined Ferrari in 2019. The contract between the Swiss team and the Milan-based brand is set to end in late 2023, so we should no longer see the Alfa Romeo logo in Grand Prix races starting from the 2024 season.
In an interview with L’Argus, the current leader of the Italian premium brand of the Stellantis group does not exclude a future in motorsport.
« The future of the brand in motorsport will be decided at the end of June. Nothing is being ruled out. What is certain is that we intend to stay in motorsport, either in Formula 1 or in sports prototypes. Especially since we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Quadrifoglio this year, stated Jean-Philippe Imparato.
Good news for the many Alfisti around the world. Just a few more months to wait and find out the exact details of Alfa Romeo’s potential involvement in Formula 1 or elsewhere.
