Günther Steiner doesn’t want an eleventh team in F1
Günther Steiner is firmly opposed to the arrival of an eleventh team in F1. He sees only risks and no advantages.

The FIA recently launched a call for tender to bring a new team to F1 in 2024. Most of the teams already present on the grid do not see this in a favorable light, like the Haas team director who criticizes this idea.
A few months ago, Andretti communicated about his intention to enter Formula 1. In January of this year, she signed a partnership with the motor manufacturer General Motors, making her the most credible team to access the premier competition, especially with the support of Cadillac. However, the arrival of a new team must be approved by Formula 1 and the current teams, which is far from being the case. For now, only McLaren and Alpine have shown their support for Andretti.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Haas team principal, Günther Steiner, explains why he does not want an eleventh team in the paddock. He notably mentions his concern about the decrease in revenue for each team.
There are only risks, no advantages.
« What advantage does that bring? » he said.
« There are only risks, no advantages ».
Five years ago, you could get teams for nothing, you could pick them up. Nobody wanted them and they were closing down.
Now, suddenly, everyone wants a team. But there are many people who want to come and the 10 teams that are here are all financially stable, all well established. It’s a very good environment right now, no one is in trouble.
If you add an eleventh team and there is a slight downturn in the economy or something like that, suddenly, people might start fighting to survive.
Andretti’s arrival in F1 could trigger the return of Romain Grosjean to F1, a driver that both teams are familiar with, as Steiner was the team principal of the Swiss-French driver for several seasons.
