Carlos Sainz must aim for the title this season
At 28 years old, the Spaniard is about to start his third season with the Scuderia Ferrari. After finishing fifth in the drivers' championship twice, it is a more confident Carlos Sainz who is preparing to start the new season.

Author of his first career victory last year at Silverstone, Carlos Sainz now wants to take it to the next level. His ambition: to aim for the F1 World Championship title for the 2023 season and become the first Ferrari driver to be crowned in 15 years.
“When you drive for Ferrari and you are as competitive as me, the goal for the year must be to fight for the World Championship and try to win,” Sainz stated at the launch of the SF23.
« It’s in the spirit not only of me, but of the whole team.
To aim for the title, the son of the triple winner at Dakar explains the mentality he has adopted this winter.
« Looking at the shorter term, it’s clear that if you want to be World Champion, you must be the best driver and you must be in the best team,” he explained.
« What I focus on is this [vision of] what I can do in the short term. What can the team do to become a better team and [become] the best team on the grid and the best driver on the grid? »
« I had very clear things in mind at the beginning of winter and I worked on them, then of course I will try to implement them this year.
Two weeks before the first Grand Prix of the season, Sainz believes that he is more confident than last year.
“I feel like I’m going to give my best,” Sainz asserts.
« But, no matter what happens this year, I obviously feel more confident after last year. I feel more capable, better prepared. I know what it’s like now to fight on the front lines, what I need to do, and I feel ready for it.
(e) But everyone says the same thing in February. Everyone is a world champion, everyone wants to win, and everyone is ready.
(D) What matters is later, once the season has started, how you can remain faithful and true to your ambitions and short-term objectives.
