The Alpine A523 will undergo a very noticeable evolution from the first Grand Prix in Bahrain
After a shakedown that allowed to distinguish the real A523 through a photo, Alpine is preparing to start pre-season tests and at the same time an aggressive development.

While Alpine still keeps its cards hidden regarding the A523, Matt Harman, Technical Director at Alpine, took charge during the presentation to assert that the team will adopt an aggressive development approach from the first Grand Prix of the season in 2023.
“We will have an evolution for the first race, it will be very noticeable and you will see it,” Harman asserts.
« I can’t wait to see that, it’s a big step for Alpine. Being able to bring an upgrade for the first race is not something we have been able to do before. It shows the growth of our team. »
Alpine continued in the same direction as the car developed last year, which, thanks to its versatility, allowed the Dieppe brand to avoid the pitfalls right from the winter tests.
“I think we’ve been aggressive, we’ve focused on a particular feature and we’ve raised the bar for that particular feature, now we know more,” Harman continues.
« It is important not to forget that this characteristic allowed us to avoid some of the problems that some of the other teams had with porpoising and pitching, but now I think we understand it better ourselves. »
« We have tools that are correlated and allow us to understand this phenomenon, so we have allowed ourselves to push a little harder in this area without any fear, so yes, we have been more aggressive. »
Continuity will be the name of the game at Alpine in 2023, as they once again strive to be the best among the rest by getting closer to the top teams. Satisfaction and confidence prevail regarding the improvements made, although some caution remains towards the competition.
« We are very confident that we have achieved the goals we set for ourselves. I prefer to be a little timid in these situations because you never really know what others have done. We all know, we have been doing this for quite a long time,” says Harman.
We are satisfied with our own goals, we set aggressive goals for ourselves and we have achieved them. I am convinced that others may have done a better job than us, but I believe that we have done the best possible job with the tools we have.
That’s why we are growing for the future. That’s why we have our plan of 100 races and a mountain to climb to reach the point where we have the tools that match our competitors, so that we can truly start increasing our goals and achieve them.
