Several teams have contacted Honda for an engine supply in 2026
Red Bull has announced a partnership with Ford starting from 2026 during the launch of the RB19. As a result, the Japanese manufacturer finds itself as the only engine supplier not linked to a team within the framework of the future engine regulations.

After indicating its intention to leave Formula 1, Honda has finally made a timid comeback due to an interest in the next technical regulation of power units in 2026.
A return that will not happen with the Red Bull team, as they have announced their collaboration with Ford, who will become a technical partner of Red Bull Powertrains and will provide engines for both the 2022 champions and their sister team, AlphaTauri.
The president of Honda Racing Corporation, Koji Watanabe, stated that the modifications made to the technical regulations had brought them closer to their goals as an automotive manufacturer.
The Formula 1 is evolving significantly towards electrification. Therefore, since carbon neutrality is our company-wide goal at Honda, we believe that the future direction of Formula 1 aligns with our objective. That is why we have decided to register as a power unit manufacturer, emphasized Watanabe.
We are curious to know where Formula 1 is heading, with Formula 1 being the newest category, and what it will look like with more electrification. We would like to keep a very close eye on this.
Watanabe states that the manufacturer has already initiated talks with other teams, perhaps with McLaren, although no concrete decision regarding a return to F1 has been made.
« After registering, we were contacted by several Formula 1 teams, he confirmed.
For now, we would like to keep an eye on the evolution of Formula 1 and see how things go.
For now, we don’t have a concrete decision on whether or not we will return to join Formula 1. But from a technological development standpoint, we believe that being part of Formula 1 will help us in technological development. So that’s where we stand.
