George Russell reports that there are “no twists” regarding the Mercedes
After the first laps in Bahrain, George Russell reportedly told Toto Wolff that he had not suffered from the porpoising.

It was one of Mercedes’ plagues in 2022 and it could very well be resolved! Indeed, the German team was one of the teams that suffered the most from the phenomenon of porpoising, which caused a lot of turmoil in high-speed corners with the W13.
After covering 69 km with the W14 this morning, the driver George Russell did not experience any setbacks according to Toto Wolff, the director of Mercedes.
He was overall satisfied with the car, it seems to be balanced in the right way. There is no bouncing, which is good news except for the big bump at the end of the straight line. A good starting point, he declared.
« We collect a lot of data because it was important to make correlations, obviously after last year and while trying different things. »
A solid foundation
Wolff believes that the team has done what was necessary to solve this problem which, he admits, put his drivers in difficulty last year.
« We knew we were in trouble because the car was bouncing and we weren’t really able to drive it properly. I think we have a solid foundation now to work on and try to optimize the car, which we haven’t done yet, » he explains before adding a word about the work that awaits them during these winter tests.
« It’s really about finding out if there are areas that could be a real obstacle to performance, like last year with the setback, and now we just have to work through the program. »
