Ralf Schumacher does not see Ferrari competing with Red Bull for the championship
After a difficult first Grand Prix for Ferrari, former Williams driver Ralf Schumacher believes that the Italian team is too far behind compared to the Red Bulls, which he sees as being extremely dominant this season.

Only one race has passed but it is already rich in lessons. Red Bull is in great shape while Ferrari, supposed direct opponent, is already struggling. According to Ralf Schumacher, the gap between the two teams is already too big and it will be difficult for Ferrari to bridge it.
At the arrival of the Bahrain Grand Prix, the verdict was clear: a double for Red Bull who dominated this race far ahead of Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari, finishing fourth. Charles Leclerc, on the other hand, was forced to retire on the 41st lap. The Monegasque driver believed that a podium finish was possible, but only in third place, considering how much superior the Red Bulls were. Ralf Schumacher shares the same opinion as Leclerc or Russell (referring to George Russell’s statement) and expects a one-sided season for Red Bull. “I’m afraid it will be a relatively boring season. It will revolve around the two Red Bull drivers,” said the former F1 driver. He also believes that the gap shown in the race between the two teams will be too difficult for Ferrari to overcome. “Unless Red Bull encounters technical issues, I think Ferrari will take too long to close the gap,” he stated.
And what about Aston Martin?
According to the former F1 driver, Ferrari will not be competing for the top positions this season. But what about Aston Martin? The British team made a strong impression throughout the weekend, culminating in Fernando Alonso’s podium finish, and is seen as a serious outsider. The Silverstone-based team even seems to be as fast as Red Bull in terms of race pace. However, for Michael Schumacher’s brother, the team is still too young and lacks experience. It is still a relatively young team. Moreover, Alonso can’t do everything with this car. They also have to compete with an experienced Red Bull team. According to him, the problem in the future could be tire management. There will be races where they won’t be able to extract the full potential of the tires, I’m sure, certifies Ralf Schumacher.
The future will tell us whether the former F1 driver is right or wrong. Currently, Ferrari is in fourth place in the constructors’ standings with a 31-point deficit behind Red Bull, while Aston Martin is in second place with a 20-point deficit.
