Mick Schumacher reassures Mercedes
The current Mercedes reserve driver, Mick Schumacher, is trying to reassure himself after a difficult Bahrain Grand Prix for the German team. The German driver hopes to get closer to the Red Bulls, even though the Austrian team is extremely fast at the beginning of the season.

In Bahrain, Mercedes did not have the expected race. Finishing respectively fifth and seventh, Hamilton and Russell couldn’t do anything against the extremely dominant Red Bulls and a spectacular Alonso. However, at the finish line, reserve driver Mick Schumacher remained positive for the upcoming races.
Arriving in Bahrain, Mercedes hoped to close the performance gap with Red Bull, which was so noticeable last year. But it didn’t happen. Toto Wolff said he had experienced one of his worst races and emphasized the work that still needs to be done, starting with a complete overhaul of the W14. For Mick Schumacher, the situation is serious but not desperate: “I hope we will be a little closer to Red Bull, who seem to be extremely dominant,” said the German to F1 Nation. But the Mercedes reserve driver wants to reassure considering the work put in: “I think Lewis can be optimistic and positive, and I firmly believe in the team. I am eager to see what the coming weeks will bring. I’m sure it will be very instructive for me too,” reassures the German driver.
Stay positive
Recently tensions have been palpable in the Mercedes garage, notably with Lewis Hamilton expressing his dissatisfaction at not being listened to by the engineers regarding the car’s development. Recently, the team sent a letter to its supporters, acknowledging their pain. But Mick Schumacher emphasized that the team must stay positive, stating, “I think everyone is keeping their positivity high and truly looking towards the future, hoping to make a change.” For the past two seasons, Mercedes has transitioned from being the pursued to the pursuer. A position that Mercedes seems to struggle with, as Schumacher points out, “Clearly, they are in a position they don’t really want to be in because they are used to much more.” He also underlines that “the real work is about to begin now.” Surely, a message directed to the fans.
