He is starting to collect trophies. Fortunately for him, it’s not the drivers who keep the trophies, but the teams. Otherwise, Fernando Alonso would have to build a house dedicated to them.

During the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, on Sunday, March 19th, the Spaniard achieved a new podium. After several twists and turns, the Aston Martin driver was indeed declared third in the race.

With this new performance, he has secured his 100th podium in Formula 1, joining a very exclusive club of drivers who have crossed this symbolic milestone. The first one, he achieved it with Renault in 2003, during the Malaysian Grand Prix, starting from pole position. In that same season, he finishes on the podium four times, but only manages to climb it three times.

At Interlagos, Brazil, Fernando Alonso cannot join in the celebrations. He is at the hospital, undergoing tests, following a major accident that occurred towards the end of the race, causing its interruption.

With the French team, the Spaniard accumulated trophies: 15 in 2005, 14 in 2006, 3 in 2008, and another one in 2009. He also won two world titles (2005 and 2006). In total, the double world champion with Renault achieved 41 podium finishes. A record that he would only surpass with Ferrari, between 2010 and 2014, with 44 trophies.

With Alpine, he is climbing back up, with a little luck, to the podium in Qatar in 2021. He finally reached the symbolic milestone of 100 podiums, with Aston Martin, a few days ago. By the end of the season, he could surpass Kimi Räikkönen (103) and Alain Prost (106), if the performance and reliability of his car allow him to.
