Hamilton at Red Bull, Christian Horner excludes him

The disappointing performance of the W14 has raised suspicions of a possible departure by the Briton, who is nearing the end of his contract with Mercedes. Christian Horner has dismissed the possibility of having Lewis Hamilton in his team in the future.

Lewis Hamilton expected better after the 2022 season, which did not allow him to fight for an eighth record-breaking title. Worse, the 38-year-old driver did not achieve any victories last year, a first for him in his 16 seasons in the top category.

Mercedes had high hopes for 2023 with their new car, the W14. However, it is clear that after two races without a podium finish, the seven-time champion, who is coming to the end of his contract, may be losing patience. Could this lead to a possible departure from the Mercedes team?

In any case, it’s a possibility that wouldn’t surprise former F1 driver Martin Brundle, who can see Hamilton running out of patience. He even suggests the hypothesis of the British driver joining another team next season, notably Red Bull.

Horner refutes arrival of Hamilton

Asked about the temptation to have the British driver sign with his team, Christian Horner, the director of the Austrian team, emphasizes that there will be no spot if the seven-time world champion doesn’t extend his contract with Mercedes.

“What Lewis has achieved in Formula 1 is unmatched, but we are very happy with the drivers we have,” commented Christian Horner in an interview with Sky Sports F1.

« They both committed, not only for this season, but also for next season. So I don’t see how we could accommodate Lewis. »

But I’m sure that they [Mercedes] will solve their problems, and we are certainly not dismissing them.
