Stefano Domenicali doesn’t see the interest of free practice sessions for the public
In an interview with Portuguese television on Sunday, the Formula 1 boss expressed support for the elimination of free practice sessions, which he believes are not appreciated by the public.

It is a surprising statement from the boss of Formula 1. On the occasion of the MotoGP season launch in Portugal on Sunday, Stefano Domenicali spoke about Formula 1 and his desire to continue making it attractive for the audience. On the television channel Sport TV, the Italian boss expressed his opinion on the race weekend format and wishes to see the elimination of Free Practice sessions, which are beneficial for the teams but do not please the public, says the former Ferrari boss.
The Italian wishes to continue the development of the popularity of Formula 1. In this regard, he has obtained the multiplication of sprint races on the calendar, which will be six in number this season. Currently, discussions are underway to make the Practice sessions more attractive, notably by offering points. For such a decision to take effect, it must be accepted by the teams and the FIA, which seems unlikely. This statement by Stefano Domenicali will undoubtedly make a big impact in the paddock during the Australian Grand Prix this weekend.
