With 23 races scheduled in 2023 and increasingly busy calendars, the chances of seeing a German Grand Prix again may seem low. However, the upcoming arrival of Audi as a manufacturer in 2026 has revived this possibility, as highlighted by the director of the Hockenheimring, Jorn Teske.

“We are eagerly awaiting further discussions on Formula 1 in Germany,” he says.

« And we are happy that Audi’s entry has brought a new dynamic to the discussion. There are always contacts with Formula 1, but that doesn’t mean there will be anything new. »

We really want Formula 1 to come back to Germany. We know how important the premier category is for a circuit, but also for the surrounding region. We owe our worldwide reputation to this sport and we are truly doing everything in our power to make a comeback.

The idea of an alternation with another circuit

A return to the Hockenheim circuit, which has hosted Formula 1 37 times since 1970, could be considered, even though obstacles remain according to the German.

« Formula 1 should not bankrupt us,” Jorn Teske clarifies.

We must therefore find a way to meet again. We must not make profits, but we must also not incur losses.

To lighten the financial burden, the proposed solution would be to collaborate with another circuit.

We are completely open to organizing a race every two years. If there was a rotation with, for example, the Nürburgring, it would be fantastic for the German fans, but also for me, he emphasizes.
