Verstappen believes that Alonso “should have already won many more races”
The reigning double world champion believes that the soon-to-be 42-year-old Spaniard "deserves much more" victories in the premier category and hopes to see him win a 33rd success very soon.

Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso have been together on the podium in each of the three races in 2023.
A start to the season that the Aston Martin driver had not experienced since 2006, the year he won his last world title.
His current start to the season is starting to make many observers, starting with the Dutchman, think that the Bull from Asturias is not far from securing a 33rd career triumph.
I think that Fernando should have already won many more races than he has. I think he deserves much more, declared Verstappen.
I would therefore be quite happy to see him win the 33rd. But I would also, in a certain way, like to see him win more. We will see in the upcoming races.
A growing Spanish fervor
Nearly a decade after Alonso achieved his last victory in F1, on home soil in 2013, while racing for Scuderia Ferrari. A new wave of excitement is growing in Spain, as demonstrated in tennis by the current world number two Spanish player, Carlos Alcaraz, and his message after winning his round of 16 match at the Miami Open: “33? Soon.”
« It’s crazy to see how Spain is once again enthusiastic about Formula 1 and everything that’s happening,” comments Alonso.
You know, it’s very, very pleasant to see. And I think they appreciated these… podiums. I think in Barcelona, it will be something again this year.
And to add: « I hope that we will reach this number in terms of victories and that we can then aim for 34. »
Fernando Alonso’s last victory dates back to the 2013 Spanish Grand Prix. It was with Ferrari at the time.
