The Azerbaijan Grand Prix broadcasted for free on Canal+
On the occasion of the launch of the new format for Sprint qualifying, the encrypted channel has decided to make the Grand Prix accessible to everyone.

Canal+, holder of the TV rights for Formula 1 until 2029, has decided to broadcast the Azerbaijan Grand Prix for free this weekend. This is the second Grand Prix of the season that is accessible to viewers who are not subscribed to the encrypted channel. The first free-to-air Grand Prix of the season was the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix on March 19th.
A brand new format for the Sprint
For this fifth race of the season, after a four-week break due to the cancellation of the Chinese GP, the drivers will return to the track and the streets of Baku. This weekend is marked by the removal of the Free Practice 2 session on Saturday, replaced by the Qualification Shootout. This qualifying session will determine the starting grid for the sprint qualification, scheduled to start on Saturday, April 29th at 15:10 on Canal+ Sport. The starting grid for Sunday’s race will be established on Friday during the usual qualifying session scheduled for 15:00.
The start of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix will take place on Sunday, April 30th at 1pm on Canal+ and therefore, free-to-air. Check out the TV schedule for this special event.
During the last free-to-air broadcast, Canal+ gathered an average of 1.74 million viewers, with a peak audience of 2.01 million during the final round and a market share of 11.3% (PDA), according to Médiamétrie.
