The Baku weekend is a weekend to forget for the Alpine team. Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon finished in 14th and 15th positions. However, the Evreux native can still take comfort after setting a race record.

Having started with a set of hard tires from the pit lane, Ocon waited in vain for the arrival of a safety car until the end of the Grand Prix. However, this long stint still allowed Esteban Ocon to set a new record by becoming the driver who covered the longest distance on a single set of hard tires. The Frenchman managed to complete 300.150 kilometers with his hard tires last Sunday in Baku.

The previous record dates back to 2017 and was previously held by the German Pascal Wehrlein, who had covered 297.321 kilometers with the same set of tires at the wheel of a Sauber at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
