For his film, Brad Pitt is going to create an 11th F1 team at Silverstone

We have known for a few months now that Brad Pitt is producing and participating in a film about Formula 1. However, to add realism, he will create a fictional team that will race alongside the 20 drivers in several races.

On the occasion of his film about Formula 1, Brad Pitt will be co-piloting a real single-seater alongside the 20 drivers of the world championship. At Silverstone, the Hollywood actor will get into a car specially designed for the event.

Lewis Hamilton as co-producer

Co-producer and strong supporter of the film, Lewis Hamilton surely played a major role in making this event possible. Furthermore, it is Mercedes, the team of the British driver, that has developed the two cars that will serve as models in the film. It will be a fully-fledged 11th team created starting from the British Grand Prix.

« Lewis Hamilton is in constant communication with the directors and advises them on the screenplay to ensure the production of the most realistic racing film ever made, revealed Will Buxton on his Twitter account. The possibility of filming from the cockpit during an actual race will surely allow the Mercedes driver to fulfill his wish.

A high-tech device

The director Joseph Kosinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer have already participated in extreme shoots like Top Gun: Maverick. The idea of integrating into a real Formula 1 race is not new. Already in 2022, Joseph Kosinski revealed this intention: “The idea is to capture this world in the most authentic way possible, to film real cars in real races, and to give the audience the feeling of what it’s like to be in one of these F1 cars.”

With the same technical devices as during the production of Top Gun: Maverick, the images will undoubtedly be at the cutting edge of technology. The smallest camera capable of broadcasting images in 6K will be used to allow for a total immersion with the pilot, inside the car itself. Lewis Hamilton had declared last June that he wanted to ensure he touched the hearts of all motorsport fans, especially visually.

However, the single-seater being driven will not be a Formula 1. It should be closer to a Formula 2 or Formula 3. And Brad Pitt will not be on track during the official sessions of the 20 drivers of the World Championship. In summary, the actor will not be exactly alongside the Formula 1 cars.
