“There are no excuses, it is not acceptable,” admits Leclerc after his accident in the qualifying session in Miami
Already guilty of a mistake in the sequence of turns 6 and 7 during free practice, Charles Leclerc had a big off-track excursion in Q3 at the same place. He will start 7th on the grid.

It’s another mistake that adds to Charles Leclerc’s record this season, following the one in Australia, the small incident in Baku, and the one during the second free practice session. In the beginning of a year where Scuderia Ferrari must avoid making mistakes in order to maximize performance, this track excursion in Q3 darkens the Monégasque’s balance, in a slightly underwhelming weekend.
Leclerc criticizes himself
His reaction on Canal+ microphone after this mistake is once again of great honesty but brings the driver back to a harsh reality. « There are no explanations honestly. There are no excuses, it is not acceptable. I am the first to be hard on myself and this is not the level I should have, simply. »
A more difficult weekend
Despite a track where the Monegasque seems comfortable, as evidenced by his excellent weekend in 2022, rewarded with a pole position and a second place, Leclerc describes the whole weekend as complicated. “I know that qualifying is one of my strengths, that I manage to extract the maximum from the car most of the time, but this weekend, clearly, I didn’t do the job, simply put. Two mistakes, twice at the same corner,” he said to Canal+ microphones.
Already focused on the race
Charles Leclerc knows how to analyze situations and never fails to acknowledge his mistakes. Despite the immense disappointment of this qualifying session, he is already focused on the Grand Prix, aiming to achieve the best possible result.
« I’m going to try to focus on tomorrow, to try to finish the weekend in the best way possible. » But the disappointment remains great for the Monegasque pilot.
« But anyway, very disappointed with myself,” exclaimed Charles Leclerc at the end of the Canal+ interview.
