While his son wins the Miami Grand Prix, Jos Verstappen wins his first rally
Two Verstappens on the podium on the same day: while Max Verstappen triumphs in Miami, his father Jos secured his first rally victory in Belgium.

We can call this a beautiful day. While his son Max was performing a comeback that he has the secret to come and win on the Miami circuit, Jos Verstappen, on his side, won his first rally race.
The 51-year-old man won the Monteberg Rally in Belgium with his co-driver Renaud Jamoul in a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2. “It’s a great thing for me. It was a difficult period because I couldn’t drive for a few months,” comments Jos about his strong comeback after a break due to illness at the beginning of the year. “I’m very happy to come back this way,” he declares. “When it started raining during the day, it was very slippery, but I was able to make up for lost time. I’m very happy with my first rally victory.”
Victorious in Miami, his son also congratulated him. It’s a completely different discipline. But yes, I’m happy for him, Verstappen said during the top 3 press conference.
Jos Verstappen’s racing program also includes three races of the Belgian Rally Championship in 2023: Sezoens (May 20th), Bertrix (June 10th/11th), and Ypres (June 23rd/24th).
Last year, the former Formula 1 driver made his rally debut by participating in the first two rounds of the Belgian Rally Championship. He was driving a Citroën C3 Rally2 at the time. In August, he made his WRC debut in Ypres.
