Sergeant apologizes for his “painful” mistake in the first round
Logan Sargeant apologized to his Williams team after making a mistake in the first lap that caused him to spend almost the entire race at his home circuit in last position.

The rookie driver of Williams collided with the back of Lance Stroll’s Aston Martin in the chicane of turns 14 and 15, which damaged his front wing. Sargeant did not come to the pit after the contact, but at the end of the second lap. He is then relegated to last place, which he will maintain until the end of the race.
« I placed the car in a spot where I shouldn’t have in this second sector and I ripped off my front wing, » said the young American after the race. « That ruined the race from there. »
However, Sargeant was happy to finish the race without any further pit stops. « I think doing 54 laps on the hard tire in this final stint wasn’t too bad. We were a bit conservative with the balance at the start, so I had to persevere throughout this stint. »
« But that sucks. It’s a mistake in the first round that ruined our chances. I’m sorry for the team, but I’m taking it with a grain of salt. »
Sergeant, who grew up not far from the Miami International Speedway, admitted that his first home race had been painful. « I hate that things went this way, but overall, I enjoyed the weekend and I won’t dwell on it, I’ll simply move on. »
This result means that Logan Sargeant still hasn’t scored a single point after his first five Formula 1 Grand Prix. Only one other driver, Nyck de Vries from AlphaTauri, has yet to score points.
