Started 5th in the Miami Grand Prix after a strong performance in qualifications, Pierre Gasly crossed the finish line in 8th position on Sunday. The Frenchman was unable to maintain his position during the race, but he still finished in the points and just ahead of his teammate Esteban Ocon.

With a pneumatic strategy starting with medium tires and then switching to hard, Gasly tried to fend off Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton during the race, but without success. However, this didn’t dampen his enthusiasm.

« I am very satisfied with the result of today’s race, even though we fell back from our position on the grid. It was always going to be a difficult task to stay behind some faster cars like Max [Verstappen] and Charles [Leclerc], but fighting with Ferrari and Mercedes until the end of the race is truly encouraging », declares the one who is now 10th in the driver standings (8 points).

The French driver also highlights technical difficulties encountered during the race: « We had to save a significant amount of fuel in the second half of the race, so the fact that we are so close to the top six is a step in the right direction », he assures. « After two difficult races for the team, it was important for us to score two points. We will analyze everything, see where we can improve and arrive in Imola ready to continue fighting and reduce the gap with our rivals. »
