Esteban Ocon: a good pace in Miami encouraging for the future
The Alpine driver was reassured of his pace in the race at the Miami Grand Prix, after two disappointing races in Baku and Melbourne.

Finished 8th in the race, Esteban Ocon lost a position and therefore finished 9th in Miami, behind his teammate Pierre Gasly. Having opted for a one-stop strategy to switch from hard to medium tires, the final stage of the race was crucial for Ocon, who was looking to gain positions. After a successful first pit stop where he managed to reach third place, the French driver ultimately settled for ninth place in a uneventful race until the finish line, following his late pit stop for medium tires.
A good performance nevertheless for Alpine, which secures a double point finish and regains a bit of confidence after an anonymous Azerbaijan Grand Prix and a double retirement in Australia.
« It’s good to be back in the points with both cars after a decent race for the team today. We opted for a more aggressive strategy by staying on the hard tires for a long time in the first stint and it didn’t really pay off in the end », however, Esteban Ocon regrets.
« We had good battles with Ferrari and Mercedes, with some interesting overtakes. Our pace was good, which is encouraging for the future. We are satisfied with our work today as I don’t think we could have done much more. Of course, there are things to review and improve, but it’s a long season and I’m looking forward to being in Europe where we have to string together three positive races », namely Imola, Monaco, and the Spanish Grand Prix.
