The organization of the Miami GP donates leftovers of food
After the show provided during the Miami Grand Prix weekend, significant amounts of food were left on site. The organizers have since informed that they will donate it.

Since the end of the Miami GP, which saw Max Verstappen dominate the competition, the organizers have announced that large quantities of leftover food will be donated. Jonathan Cowan, Executive Chef of the Grand Prix, explains that it is difficult to estimate the amount of food remaining. He says, “We wanted to make sure that everyone could eat and have enough to drink. Last year, there were 90,000 pounds of leftover food, and this year, with a little experience, it has been refined. I mean, we will donate about 20 to 30,000 pounds of food this year.”
For the organization, there are several reasons to donate leftover food: « We don’t need to make more food, we just need to preserve it, reuse it, and feed people in need. And by preventing the food from being dumped, we are actually helping the environment because the decomposition of food produces methane, which is actually more harmful than CO2 to the environment. »
Even though there were fewer leftovers after this year’s Miami GP, a large portion can still go to waste if not distributed immediately. Therefore, the decision has been made that the food will be given to people in need in partnership with a local non-profit organization called Food Rescue South Florida.
